Ordinary Rabbits, a musical theatre company for young people, is beginning its series of fall workshops on September 18, culminating in a recital on October 23rd. The program is designed to enhance musical theatre skills and knowledge, such as audition success, stage presence, character development, and choral music, through expert coaching of small group exercises and improvisation. These exercises will result in performance-ready musical solos and groups, choreographed group numbers, monologues, and small scenes, which will be presented in a recital at the conclusion of the series on October 23rd. Groups are small, consisting of only 6-8 students, which allows plenty of individualized instruction, and are open to youth 8 years and older.
Ordinary Rabbits is led by company directors joani mitchell and Scott Anthony Smith. joani has been in the business long enough to be charmingly known as having a “ridiculous amount” of musical and musical theatre experience, and Scott has served as an area actor, director and drama teacher over the last twenty years.
After the success of its recent summer camp production of “The Jungle Book” in association with Kim Murphy Productions, Ordinary Rabbits is excited to offer this workshop series for a small group.
The fall workshop is held on Sundays from 3pm to 5pm at the Ordinary Rabbits Studio, 359 Old County Road in Rockland. The first session begins Sept. 18th. Tuition is $295, and discounts and financial assistance is available with statement of need.
